E3- Visit www.ecokids.ca and complete all of Climate change, Waste and Wildlife games and the Energy quiz.
Here are some facts I have learnt from playing those games:
- Oceans can change the climate by soaking up the heat from the sun then storing it.
- Did you know that the lowest air temperature ever recorded in Canada was -63 degrees!
- There is 25% more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today than there is in 1860.
- A piece of paper can only be recycled for about 7 times before it is no longer useful. This is because every time a piece of paper is recycled fibres of the paper break and the paper becomes more useless after each cycle.
- 30% of the waste we create at home can be composted.
- A plastic container can be recycled at least 4 times.
- Did you know that a ladybug beats its wings 85 times per second when it flies.
- Did you know that a group of frogs is called an army!
- Did you know that the white-tailed deer's fur turns reddish when it is springtime.
- 90% of the energy that is used around the world comes from coal, oil and natural gas.
- For every 1 litre of gas an average car uses about 2.4 kg of carbon dioxide is put into the air.
- Natural gas creates the lowest amount of carbon dioxide out of coal and oil.
I hope you enjoyed those facts if you want to know more go to www.ecokids.ca .
